NIPR, ADCOM Partner on Strategic Engagement

The Abia State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commenced discussions with the Abia State Diaspora Commission (ADCOM) aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and deepening engagement with Abians living across the globe.

The move formed part of efforts to promote sustainable development, strategic communication, and effective stakeholder engagement in the State.

The collaboration initiative came to the fore during a courtesy visit by the Executive Committee of NIPR Abia State Chapter to the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of ADCOM, Rev. Dr. Annie N. Onu, in Umuahia.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of NIPR Abia State Chapter, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, fnipr, congratulated Rev. Dr. Onu on her appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her competence, visionary leadership, and commitment to strengthening diaspora and international relations.

She explained that the visit was part of the Institute’s ongoing drive to build strategic partnerships that support governance, communication excellence, public trust, and stakeholder engagement.

The NIPR Chairman commended the Diaspora Commission for its efforts in strengthening the connection between Abians in the diaspora and residents at home, noting that both institutions share common goals in promoting positive representation and development of the State.

She expressed the Chapter’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission in areas including strategic communication, diaspora engagement initiatives, capacity building, public enlightenment campaigns, stakeholder relations, and reputation management.

According to her, such partnerships would further enhance institutional effectiveness, public confidence, and development outcomes in Abia State.

Ralph-Nwachukwu also solicited the support of the Diaspora Commission for the programmes and professional initiatives of the Institute, emphasizing the need for responsible communication and professional capacity building.

Responding, the Executive Secretary/CEO of ADCOM, Rev. Dr. Annie N. Onu, appreciated the visit and commended the leadership style of the NIPR Chairman, describing it as pragmatic and purposeful.

She assured the delegation of the Commission’s willingness to work closely with NIPR Abia in advancing communication, engagement, and development-focused initiatives.

Rev. Dr. Onu stated that the core mandate of the Abia State Diaspora Commission is to connect Abians in the diaspora with the ongoing transformation and investment opportunities in the State under the administration of Governor Alex Otti.

She encouraged Abians living abroad to register their organisations with the Commission and actively partner with residents in contributing to the continued growth and development of Abia State.

The visit further strengthened the cordial relationship between both institutions and underscored their shared commitment to building a more connected, informed, and prosperous Abia State.
