Mrs. Otti, MWAN partner to eradicate gender-based violence

The wife of the Governor of Abia state, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has assured members of the medical women association of Nigeria, (MWAN ) Abia state chapter of her support and partnership to improve the health and well-being of Abians.

Mrs. Otti gave the assurance when the members of the association paid her a courtesy visit in her Government House Office in Umuahia today.

The Governor’s wife expressed that there are many areas of synergy between the government and the association especially where it concerns the issue of gender based violence and abuse of the girl child.

Mrs. Otti also acknowledged the challenges of the association and promised to look into it adding that while she will endeavour to support them, the rest she will relay to the Governor who she described as a health friendly governor to sort it out.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Chizoba Francisca Achor, states the visions of the association to includes, medical missions to the rural areas, creating awareness and sensitization of the public on healthy practices.

According to her, our mission is to serve humanity and use our talent in the medical field to impact humanity positively especially the vulnerables, women and the children in our society.

Dr. Chizoba enumarated the challenges of the association to includes lack of office space, vehicle for medical mission to the rural areas, funds to carry out their programmes and solicits the support of the present government.

“While we seeks for partnership, we are not ignorant of Gov. Otti’s unwavering commitments to the health sector in the state and the supportive role you are playing as the mother of the state to lift the downtrodden out of poverty” she said.
