The Motion reads as follows:

Whereas provision of qualitative health care services is one of the core responsibilities of every Government;

Whereas since the creation of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area over the past three decades, the State Government is yet to build a standard Healthcare facility in the Local Government Area;

Whereas my Constituents are presently experiencing hardship bin accessing standard healthcare facilities as a result of non availability of one standard Healthcare facility throughout Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area;

Whereas it is very disheartening to note that my Constituents travel as far as Aba or Umuahia during emergencies to be able to access standard Healthcare facilities, a scenario that that constantly ends on a sad note because of the distance involved in the journey;

Whereas it is also worrisome to note that the non availability of standard Healthcare facilities in my Constituency had led to the increase in the number of avoidable deaths in my Local Government Area;

And Whereas the present Administration in the State recently declared a State of Emergency on the Health Sector due to the level of decay being witnessed in the sector before her emergence on May 29, 2023:

Hence there is need for the State Government to capture my Constituency in it’s plan of transforming the Health Sector of the State by upgrading the existing Healthcare facilities in my Constituency as well as establishing new ones in order to ameliorate the hardship being faced by my Constituents in accessing standard Healthcare facilities and to curb the spate of avoidable deaths ravaging my Constituency.

Mr Speaker, Distinguished Colleagues, I therefore pray this Honourable House to Resolve as follows:

1. That the House should urge the State Government as a matter of importance to upgrade the existing Healthcare facilities in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area to standard in order to ease the sufferings being faced by my Constituents in accessing standard Healthcare facilities outside the Local Government Area
