Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the constitution of Infrastructural Development Council.
The council which will be chaired by the state governor is expected to look at the infrastructural development of the state,harmonize it, to achieve all round development.
Briefing journalists at Government House Umuahia, on the outcome of the governor’s meeting with contractors handling various projects in the state,the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works,Elder Richard Nwala said the incoming Commissioner for Works is expected to be the vice chairman of the council.
Nwala named other Ministries and Agencies involved in the infrastructural development council to include,Ministry of Works,Abia State Road Maintenance Agency (ABROMA), Rural Assess Mobility Programme(RAMP),Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Progect(NEWMAP), and Abia State Estate Development Agency.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Governor Ikpeazu also directed contractors handling various road projects to go back to site with a view to ensuring that a total of 20 road projects are achieved within the first 100 days of his second term in office adding that funds have been made available by the state government to ensure completion of the said roads.
He named the roads to include:Emejiaka,Emelogu, Opobo/Emelogu junction,Ntigha Mbawsi road, Etched, Danfodio, Immaculate, St Paul’s roads in Aba as well as ensure maintenance of zero potholes in Umuahia and Aba.
Others include, construction and maintenance of Ohafia Township roads,, rehabilitation of Umuikaa, Umueme, Umoba road, Egbeama Egege ,Ibere, Udeagbala, Station Avenue in Aba and Ohokobe Afara road,Ukome road as well as Agbama Housing Estate Umuahia.
Nwala said the Ministry of Works was charged to ensure implementation according to specification and timely completion of the projects.
