AFCON 2019: Madagascar Keep Knock-out Qualification Hopes Alive

Madagascar brightened their chances of qualifying for the round of 16 with a slim 1-0 victory over fellow debutants, Burundi at the Alexandria Stadium.

Marco Ilaimaharitra scored the lone goal in the 76th minute.

With this victory, Madagascar are now second with four points just behind the Super Eagles, who have six points.

Madagascar will face Nigeria on Sunday. No matter the outcome, Madagascar could still qualify as one of the four third-placed teams, if other results go their way.

The second match between Senegal and Algeria ended 0-1 in favor of the North Africans. Youcef Billaili scored the only goal of the tension soaked encounter.

The Harambee Stars of Kenya and the Taifa Stars of Tanzania clashed in a war of stars. But, after 90 minutes Kenya emerge victorious, coming from behind twice to defeat Tanzania 3-2.
