ABSG Begins Implementation of S’Court Ruling on Ndi Ebe/Ojiugwo Dispute

The Abia State Government (ABSG) has commenced the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment on the land dispute between Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area, which ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe.

Addressing the people of Ndi Ebe and Ndi Ojiugwo, the Chairman of the State Boundary Committee, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, represented by Surveyor Chris Nwanevu, the State Consultant on Boundary Matters, assured both parties that the exercise would be carried out fairly and strictly in line with the Supreme Court’s ruling.

He urged residents not to interfere with the process, noting that no villagers would be allowed around the affected area until the exercise is completed. He added that both communities would be invited to inspect the completed work to ensure agreement and mutual acceptance.

Nwanevu also assured the communities of adequate security presence throughout the duration of the exercise. He emphasized that the administration of Governor Alex Otti remains committed to peace, unity, and development in the state objectives that can only be achieved in a calm and secure environment.

“We have come to inform you that work has commenced in the area where the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Ndi Ebe, and it will be demarcated in line with the judgment. The work will be carried out transparently to ensure that peace is restored. Governor Alex Otti, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, and members of the State House of Assembly have all given their consent to this process,” Nwanevu stated, while calling for patience and cooperation from both communities.

He further noted that the government has made significant efforts toward positive peace-building initiatives across the state, urging all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at fostering growth, progress, and development.

In their separate remarks, Ezeogo Okoko Arunsi (Ocha-oza), President General of Ndi Ebe Abam; Deacon Awo Chijioke; and Mrs. Chinyere Eze Agbai commended the government for its clarification and assurances of fairness in implementing the Supreme Court judgment on the disputed boundary.

Similarly, Ezeogo Augustine Ota Ola of Ndi Ojiugwo Abam expressed appreciation for the government’s intervention and voiced optimism that the process would usher in lasting peace and sustainable development in the area.
