Aba North, South Stakeholders Back Otti’s Re-election Bid Ahead of 2027

The people of Aba La Ohazu, comprising Aba North and Aba South Local Government Areas of Abia State, have unanimously endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, citing his administration’s infrastructural strides and governance reforms.

The endorsement was made on Sunday during a solidarity and appreciation visit by a delegation of stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional rulers, women groups and youth representatives, at the Governor’s country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the political class, a former Transition Committee Chairman and stakeholders’ chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aba, Elder Chima Mbama, alongside a former zonal Chairman of ADC, Chief Charles Nwanyanwu and a former Permanent Secretary of the Abia State Civil Service, Dr Mrs Chidinma Nwogu among others, commended the Governor’s performance, particularly in urban renewal and road infrastructure.

They highlighted the rehabilitation of major roads such as Ohanku Road and Port Harcourt Road, as well as ongoing projects across the commercial city, noting that these interventions have significantly improved economic activities and restored Aba’s status as a thriving hub.

Elder Mbama particularly lauded the Otti led administration’s environmental sanitation policies, which he said have transformed Aba into a cleaner city, noting that the Governor has set a governance benchmark that would be difficult for any opposition candidate to match.

You have set a standard that they cannot meet. Your next four years are assured. Aba North and South will determine your victory in 2027″, he stated.

Traditional rulers from the area, represented by Eze Love Nwogu of Aba North and Eze Njoku of Aba South, also expressed satisfaction with the government’s performance.

They noted that, beyond the significant strides in road infrastructure, the Governor has delivered a lasting solution to the life-threatening gully erosion at Ovom and Ogbor Hill in Aba, and pointed to ongoing progress on the Enyimba Radisson Hotel project, as evidence of purposeful leadership.

The traditional rulers who pledged to mobilise grassroots support to ensure Governor Otti’s re-election, said the present administration’s interventions have not only improved infrastructure but also stimulated economic growth in the Enyimba city.

Earlier while introducing the delegation and his people to the Governor, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, said the visit is a reflection of the collective decision by the people of Aba La Ohazu to back the Governor’s second-term bid.

He added that the delegation include representatives from all villages that make up Aba La Ohazu and reaffirmed their commitment and support for the Governor, assuring that the Aba Ngwa people are solidly behind him.

In his response, Governor Otti expressed gratitude for the continued support, recalling his longstanding electoral victories in Aba since he began contesting for the governorship in 2015.

Governor Otti reiterated that his primary motivation for seeking office was to reposition Aba, as the economic hub of the State and assured the people that more developmental projects would be delivered.

The Governor disclosed that work would soon resume fully on Omuma Road, while Uratta Road and the Old Express Road were nearing the procurement stage under the Abia State Integrated Development Initiative (ABSIID).

“I want to thank all of you for this visit and reassure you that there is still a whole lot of things to do.

“The Uratta road and the Old Express , of course we have almost concluded the funding, the funding is available, but there are steps, because they come into the ABSIID projects.

“It is not something you just move in, but we are almost done. We are going to flag off the construction.

He also urged them to ensure that eligible individuals obtain their Permanent Voters Card and participate in ongoing Labour Party online registration.

“I want to challenge all of us to ensure that every part of Abia State gets registered for PVC, particularly those ones that are turning 18 , and then get registered for Labour Party”, Governor Otti said.
