NAF Offers Free Medical Treatment In Bayelsa

Thousands of Igbogene Community residents in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa, has benefited from the medical outreach programme of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF. Which is part of the activities lined up to mark the 60 years Anniversary Celebration of the service.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the outreach, the Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command, Air Vice Marshal Tajudeen Oladele Yusuf, stated that the service would continue to employ other non-kinetic measures to win the hearts and minds of its host communities.

According to him, the free medical outreach is one of the programmes marked for the 60 years anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force.

“The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, have directed that all unit, formation should conduct a free medical outreach today, as one of the activities to mark the day. Now what inform the choice of place, you recall that the Nigerian Air Force, Mobility Command, has been in existence since 2011. During that time, Bayelsa state had no airport, and our own role mobility command, who involves a lot of flying activities and is not in our purview to establish one for the state”, he stated.

“However since we still needed to carry out our role, the Nigerian Air Force then, decided to establish an helipad in this community and they have hosted us very well since that time. This is why today we are giving out in terms of medical outreach. We felt this community should be the first to benefit and that is why we are here today,” he added.

According to the Commander, within our area of responsibility, we like to encourage everyone to be law abiding and I want to assure them of their safety and security as usual. If there is anything they see as abnormal they should be free to get in touch with us, as I assure them, we are here for their safety.

One of the beneficiaries Mr Johnson Ebi commended the NAF for the free medical outreach, that he was properly checked and given the right medication.
