Hon. Justice Lilian Abai has been sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge of Abia State with a charge to sustain the peace, harmonious relationship the various arms of Government in the state.
Her swearing in follows the retirement of erstwhile Chief Judge,Onuoha Arisa Kalu Ogwe.
Speaking during the ceremony at Government House Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu while congratulating the new Acting Chief Judge of the state, expressed the confidence that she would acquit herself creditably in her new assignment.
While commending the state judiciary for setting out a template for a seamless transition, the Governor promised that the state government will support the new acting chief judge to ensure that the Abia judiciary is better than it is today.
He thanked the past Chief Justice, Retired Hon Justice Onuoha Ogwe for working in synergy with the state government to maintain harmonious relationship between the executive and judicial arms of Government.
In her acceptance speech, the Acting Chief Judge,Hon Justice Lilian Abai appreciated Governor Ikpeazu for keeping with section 270, sub section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution as amended.
She promised to discharge her duties creditably as ascribed by the law as well as maintain the existing harmony between other arms of Government and the judiciary.
