2023:Ukwa indigenes make case for governorship slot

 

 

The people of Ndoki clan in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia state, have risen from their 2019 end of the year party, to call on sons and daughters of the land to be ready, as things must be gotten right politically come 2023.

Interacting with newsmen, during the event held at the Local Government Service Commission, Umuahia, the chairman on the occasion for the 2019 end of the year party cum 2020 calendar and fund raising of the #25million secretariat ceremony, the Executive Director of Abia state Agency for Mass Literacy/ Adults and Non Formal Education, chief Godfrey Akara, said already the political speculations and permutations are on the table that the Ukwa nation would produce the next governorship candidate, adding that he is ready to champion the cause for the Ndoki clan to gain political relevance come 2023.

According to him, it would be absolutely dangerous for any political bloc or group of persons to take the Ndoki group for granted in 2023, stressing the need for the people to unite and speak in one voice so that they can record great feat.

Chief Akara noted that the Ndoki indigenes must put aside personal interest and pursue the good of the land, maintaining that no political zone would take them seriously if they still speak in disunity.

Unveiling the 2020 Almanac

He further disclosed that there is more success in association than in isolation, calling on the area to put themselves together, since politics is a game of number.

The Executive director who attributed the slow development in the area to the way the Ndoki land is divided into three states, Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom, called for government’s attention in developing the area, so it measure up as an oil producing area.

Also, the former commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Chinedu Brown, said the Ndoki people under Ukwa East Local Government Area, is suppose to have more developmental projects as an oil producing area,but lamented that the reverse is the case.

According to her, the roads leading to their villages have all gone bad, stating that is either the Ndoki people are not doing well enough to attract development, or the people representing them are not doing well.

She emphatically called for the people of Ndoki to do the right thing and pursue their collective interest come 2023.

Speaking with some illustrious sons, Hon Ejike Okere, a Commissioner three in the Local Government Service Commission and Mr Nnamdi Nwahunanya, said Ndoki indigenes have been making self progress but still need Government intervention on the area of infrastructure, electricity among others,adding that the Ndoki culture is unique and needs sustenance.

Earlier, the chairman of the Ndoki Union in Umuahia, Sir Isaac Nwankwo expressed joy over the occasion, as it has helped in bringing all the Ndoki indigenes across the three states together.

Sir Nwankwo disclosed that the 2020 Almanac is a masterpiece that parades features that have pertinent information about their origin, culture, commerce,as well as the socio-economic and psychological aspects of the Ndoki man.

He, however, called on all sons and daughters of Ndoki land both home and abroad to support the secretariat project, as it would also serve as an income generating centre for the union.
