The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Care Service delivery, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo has restated the commitment of the Dr. Alex Otti led administration to revamp the health sector for optimal health care delivery.
Dr. Okoronkwo who spoke to newsmen during a facility tour of the Abia Specialist and Diagnostic Centre, Umuahia, stated that that the vision of the present administration is to revive and make more functional the Health Sector in order to meet the healthcare needs of Abians in line with global best practices.
The Governor’s aide who described as disheartening the deplorable state of facilities at the “supposed” specialist Centre, said that the administration of Dr Alex Otti is determined to completely overhaul all sectors of the state’s economy including the healthcare system.
She disclosed that as part of coordinated plans by the government to make health care givers more proactive, the state government would soon organize training and retraining of Health workers to enable them be in tune with modern health care demands.
In his contribution,a seasoned Laboratory Scientist, Chief Nwaka Inem
regretted the level of dilapidation at the health facility ,adding that the few equipments available are outdated and can not fit into modern health care and Diagnostic delivery.
Recall that Governor Otti had during his Inuagural speech disclosed that his government would tackle headlong, the persisting challenges in the health care sector, as well address the challenge of poor facilities in the health institutions of the state through steady investments in the acquisition of modern medical equipment for overall improved access to health services by the people.
