FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP: Netherlands Top Group E After Vanquishing Vietnam

Netherlands emerged winners of Group E ahead of defending champions, the United States of America after demolishing debutants Vietnam 7-0 in their last group match.

The Netherlands started the game behind the United States on goal difference and their coach Andries Jonker retained the same squad that drew 1-1 with the United States.

Esmee Brugys and Jill Roord scored two goals respectively while Lieke Martens, Katja Snoeijs, and Danielle van de Donk scored a goal each to complete the heaviest victory so far in this competition.

The 2019 runners-up will take on the second-placed team in Group G, which is likely to be Italy, South Africa, or Argentina, in the first round of 16 matches on Saturday.
