Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has encouraged Christians not to allow their past mistakes, present situation, or what people say about them to decide their future. He said God can change lives, give people a new identity, and fulfill His purpose for them.
The Governor gave this message while preaching at the National Combine Praise and Worship Service held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at All Nations Christian Ministry International in Eket. The theme of the service was “Divine Rechristening,” based on Isaiah 62:4.
Governor Eno, who is also the Undershepherd of the ministry, said God sees people according to His purpose, not their present condition. He encouraged Christians to trust God and remain confident in His promises.
He said when God gives someone a new name, it means the person’s past no longer controls their future. According to him, while people may judge others by their present condition, God sees what they can become.
The Governor explained that before God takes someone into a new season, He first changes the person’s identity and way of thinking. He said God can turn shame into honour, poverty into abundance, failure into success, and sorrow into joy. He urged Christians to remain faithful and patiently wait for God’s perfect time.
Governor Eno also advised leaders and public office holders to stay humble and always remember that every position comes by God’s grace. He said power and leadership are temporary and can only be sustained by God’s favour.
He reminded them that without God, no one can achieve anything. He also warned leaders to treat people well because they may meet those same people again in the future.
The Governor further encouraged believers not to lose hope because of delays. Using the examples of Abraham and Joseph in the Bible, he said God’s timing always brings lasting blessings.
The service was well attended and featured choir ministration, praise and worship, prayers, child dedication, and other spiritual activities.
