Deplorable state of Uburu-Ihechiowa-Arochukwu link road, NEWMAP, ABROMA swing into action

 

 

Following the Motion moved on the floor of Abia  State House of Assembly, by the Minority Whip/Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon Mike Ukoha,on the deplorable condition of Uburu-Ihechiowa-Arochukwu Link Road, a team from the Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) and Abia Road Maintenance Agency (ABROMA), have inspected and evaluated the road.

Speaking at the Palace of Eze Ogo Uburu Ihechiowa, the Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon.Ukoha, explained that he understood the importance of the road to the people of Arochukwu LGA, as it is a major route connecting Ihechiowa, Ututu, Abam and Arochukwu, adding that a job on the road will cushion the suffering of farmers and business people who make use of the road on daily basis.

The Lawmaker explained that through a motion he moved on the floor of the House, a resolution was passed by his colleagues, directing NEWMAP and ABROMA to inspect and evaluate the road, with a view to providing erosion control and doing palliative work respectively on the road.

He used the medium to thank Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Ph.D., the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, and his colleagues, for supporting his motion, saying that a work on the road, will alleviate the sufferings of the people for over 24 years.

Also speaking, Eze Patrick Ogbonnaya Okorie, Ezeogo Uburu Ihechiowa, who was full of smiles, thanked the Lawmaker for remembering the people after many years of neglect by past past representatives.

Ezeogo Okorie, also thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, for remembering Uburu Ihechiowa, through the road, and prayed God to bless them abundantly.

Speaking while inspecting/evaluating the 4.8 Kilometer Uburu-Ihechiowa-Arochukwu road, the Project Engineer of NEWMAP, Mr. Kingsley Oha, explained that the road is really in a bad condition.

He promised to return his findings back to his office with his team, for further action by their heads.

On his part, Mr. Samuel Agbai, of ABROMA, who was taken round the road with his team, promised to report what he saw, when he returned to Umuahia.

In their separate speeches, the President Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing Home Branch, Mrs. Charity Oti, thanked Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, for his untiring efforts so far, and for ensuring that the long neglected road is being given attention.

She also thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, on his good work and for remembering the people, adding that they have suffered on the road for so long, due to its bad condition.

Other stakeholders in Arochukwu such as Mazi Dave Imoko, Mazi Ike Onu and others, expressed delight on the good works of the Lawmaker and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and prayed to give them the wisdom to enable them do more for the people.
