APC Dismisses Ikonne’s Claim To Abia South Senatorial Ticket

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and misleading the claims by Prince Paul Ikonne that he was awarded the party’s ticket for the Abia South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

In a statement issued by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, the APC said the reports being circulated by Ikonne and his supporters were baseless and capable of misleading party members and the general public.

The party clarified that the APC Senatorial Primary Election for Abia South Senatorial District was duly conducted on May 18, 2026, across the 65 wards in the district in line with the constitution and guidelines of the party.

According to the results announced by the Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Prof. Erasmus Cishak, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu (Jnr.) emerged winner of the primary election with a total of 15,982 votes.

The party noted that having secured the highest number of votes by a wide margin, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu (Jnr.) was duly declared winner and subsequently issued the official Declaration of Result Form by the National Assembly Primary Election Committee.

The APC stressed that the outcome of the primary election remains lawful, valid, and binding, adding that the mandate freely given to Erondu Jnr. by party members across Abia South would be respected and upheld by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The statement further warned Prince Paul Ikonne and his supporters against spreading misinformation capable of causing confusion, disaffection, and unnecessary tension within the party.

While reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, party discipline, and transparent electoral processes, the APC called on all party members and stakeholders to unite and support the duly elected candidate in the interest of the party and the people of Abia South Senatorial District.
