The Women’s Wing of the Amaokwe Item Welfare Union (AIWU) has honoured the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, with a Distinguished Award of Recognition and the traditional title of “Ezienyi Amaokwe Item.”

The honour was conferred on Anyaso on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Amaokwe Item, his empowerment initiatives and his commitment to the wellbeing of people across Abia State.
The award plaque, signed by the National President of the women’s wing, Lady Mercy Kesandu Uko, and National Secretary, Odoziaku Onyinyechi Comfort, acknowledged Anyaso’s community development efforts and interventions aimed at empowering the people.
Presenting the award, the women described the recognition as an expression of appreciation for his contributions to the community, noting his continued commitment to initiatives that promote development and improve the lives of residents.
In his reaction, Anyaso thanked the women of Item for the honour, describing it as a demonstration of their confidence and goodwill towards him.
He urged the women to continue supporting the administration of Governor Alex Otti, while also calling on them to prepare to support “their own” in the 2027 election for Bende Federal Constituency.
Anyaso pledged to sustain his commitment to community development, empowerment and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
