 APPLICATION TO BE AN INCUBATEE FOR THE LIFE-ND PROJECT

1. INTRODUCTION

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received financing from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) toward the implementation of the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprise in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) Project. This project is aimed at enhancing income, job creation and food security through Agribusiness enterprise development in a sustainable manner for the Niger Delta region. By its targeting strategy, the Project is focusing on unemployed and underemployed rural youths (aged 18-35) and women headed household with children below 15 years willing to engage in the production, processing and marketing of selected commodities in their communities using the incubator model. Accordingly, the Abia State Project Coordinating Office of LIFE-ND invites youths and women heading households with children below 15 years to submit applications to the State office of LIFE-ND to participate as incubatees for the project

2. PRIORITY COMMODITIES FOR ABIA STATE

The priority commodities  for  Abia State include :- (i) Cassava (ii)  Oil Palm (iii) Poultry (iv) Rice. Commodities to be covered within production, processing and marketing value chain.

 

 

3. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Being among LIFE-ND’s target group that includes men and women between the ages of 18 and 35; or women heading households with children below 15 years.

2. Being a citizen/resident/indigene within the first-phase selected community/LGA of Abia state.

5 Isiala-Ngwa North LGA Egbelu Etiti in Eziama-Ntigha, Umuala-Ukwu in Isiala-Nsulu, Umuakwu, Umuchima in Nnaji, Isiala-Amapu Ntigha, Ihie, Isiala-Uratta, Nbawsi, Umuosu Umunna Nsulu, Aguburuezeukwu.

3. Being ready, willing and able to undertake apprenticeship in the particular enterprise

4. Being willing to agree to sell a prescribed portion of their output to the incubator as part of  developing and maintaining the mentorship relationship.

5. Being considered unemployed or grossly underemployed and disadvantaged by minuted meeting of the local community as determined by a representative of any community based society or group.

6. Being willing to sign a prescribed code of conduct that includes environmental compliance.

5.DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
