…Lauds Otti’s Governance Initiatives
National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Julius Abure has criticized the APC led adminstration of President Bola Tinubu, citing economic hardships faced by Nigerians, including soaring prices of essential commodities and rampant unemployment.
Abure, spoke to Newsmen in Umuahia following a reconciliatory session presided over by Abia state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, along with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and Edo Gubernatorial aspirants.
The Meeting was aimed at resolving grievances arising from the just-concluded primaries, in readiness for the September governorship election.
The LP National Chairman who underscored the need for transformative leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people, said the party will not rest on its oars until it “takes over government and provide quality leadership that will work for the people”.
He added that the party would fight hunger, have empathy on the people and for the down trodden as well as ensure democracy dividends for all.
“We believe that Nigerians are suffering in the midst of plenty. We have crude oil in the country and we still import petroleum products at a higher cost.
“Today you can see that the country is not the way it used to be, people are suffering. A bag of rice is sold for N120, 000 and minimum wage is N30,000 how do you reconcile that.
“A tuber of yam that was sold for 300 is now sold for N1,200. LIfe has become more difficult, the challenges are enormous, security challenges is all over the place.
“Inflation is high, unemployment is increasing, people cannot feed themselves. This is the reality before us.
“We will not rest on our oars until we are able to strongly take over government and provide quality leadership that will work for the people. A Leadership that will fight hunger, have empathy on the people and for the down trodden“, Abure noted.
The LP National Chairman lauded the governance initiatives of the Abia State Governor as a testament to effective leadership and reiterated the party’s dedication to serving the populace.
“You can see the beautiful work the Governor of Abia,Dr Alex Otti is doing within nine months in office with the limited resources.
“This is what we talk about ,that leadership is about commitment, your passion to work for the people ans this what Labour Party is all about”, he said.
Abure reaffirmed the Labour Party’s determination to pursue its objectives despite any challenges or intimidation, expressing belief in the possibility of a new Nigeria characterized by efficient resource management and improved living standards.
“We believe in this course and that a new Nigeria is possible. We believe that the country can be transformed if human and material resources are well managed can change things.
“Labour Party remains resolute in its quest for transformative governance and a better future for all Nigerians”.
The LP Governorship candidate in Edo, Olumide Akpata who outlined his plans for a people-centric government, said if elected would focus on addressing citizens’ needs and protecting the interests of the people.
He affirmed that the reconciliation process was successful, and added that aspirants have pledged to support him and work together in unity for the overall success of the party in the upcoming polls.
