Abia Govt Moves To Reconstruct Ofeme Bridge

Abia State Government has assured the people of Mbato Ofeme Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area it will address the infrastructural concern in the area with special reference to the Ofeme Bridge.

The State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Otti disclosed this when he paid and on the spot visit to Ofeme bridge in Umuahia North L.G.A to ascertain the extent of damage on the Ofeme Bridge.

Engr. Otti, who was conducted round the bridge by the lawmaker representing Umuahia North in the State Assembly described the dilapidated bridge as a major infrastructure concern, emphasizing the State government’s commitment to addressing the issue urgently.

He assured residents that the matter would be escalated to the appropriate authorities for necessary intervention without much ado.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the visit, Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro noted that the visit was borne out of the matter of urgent public importance he raised in the State House of Assembly a couple of weeks ago.

The Lawmaker underscores the importance of the bridge to the people of Ofeme which he informed that it serves as a vital link for residents to access other parts of the Community and added that businesses, both agriculture and commercial would be grossly affected if nothing urgent is done to reconstruct the deteriorated bridge.

Barr. Akaliro, however, reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring improved infrastructure for the people of Umuahia North and also reiterated his commitment to working closely with the State government to secure prompt action on the bridge and other essential projects within the constituency.
