Rivers Women Group Applauds Tinubu, Wike, Others Over Peace Deal

A women’s advocacy group, Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for their roles in restoring peace in Rivers State.

In a statement issued on Monday in Port Harcourt and signed by its convener, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton, the group expressed appreciation for the reconciliation efforts that led to renewed understanding between the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and other political stakeholders.

The group particularly praised President Tinubu for what it described as a “fatherly role” in brokering the peace, noting that his intervention helped douse political tensions and reposition the state on the path of unity and economic progress.

According to the statement, “The effort of our dear President in brokering this fresh peace is commendable. We deeply appreciate President Tinubu for setting the tone for our political leaders to graciously accept to work together and embrace sustained peace for the good of our dear Rivers State.”

The women urged political leaders in Rivers State to sustain the spirit of reconciliation and prioritize the collective interest of the people above partisan considerations.

They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, stability, and economic growth in the state.
