December 16 Cleanup Exercise: Default, face Abia State Basic Environmental Law – Commissioner.

 

As the Month of December sanitation exercise holds Saturday 16, Abia State Government has enjoined citizens, residents and visitors to participate actively in the exercise.

The government also warned that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.

A release made available to newsmen in Umuahia by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Mr Philemon Ogbonna read, “The general public is hereby informed that the monthly Environmental sanitation exercise for the month of December holds on Saturday December 16, 2023 in Abia State between the hours of 7 am and 10am.

“Movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

“The Mayor of the Local Government Councils ,Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well.

” All markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday December 15, 2023 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own cleanup exercise.

“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment”.

The release further directs that people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.
