The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, the Most Rev Calistus Onaga has charged members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Enugu State Chapter to be truthful and abide by the ethics of the profession when performing their constitutional responsibilities.
Bishop Onaga stated this recently during a sermon at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu to thank God for the successful Inauguration of state executive of the union.
The clergyman encouraged members of the union to uphold the tenents of truthfulness in the discharge of their duties.
According to Bishop Onaga, “you can equally testify the goodness of Christ in the practice of your profession. Jesus is the master of the universe and we all should endeavour to be like him always.
He advised christians to shun sin and remain faithful to God.
“Shun darkness and put on the armour of light. This period of Advent is in line with the preparation of the birth of our lord Jesus Christ. Our relationship with God become deeper when we remain faithul in him. Christians should live the examplary life that Jesus christ lived on earth.
The cleric also called on the people who see christmass as a period of do or die season to have a rethink on the relevance of the season
He said “your personal character can go a long way to tell more about you in either positive or negetive way. Learn to control your tongue and temperament. Keep quite when necessary, avoid pride at all cost, ask God to help in your inability. Remain an example of Justice for peace everywhere you are found. Let your language and conduct reflect the life of Jesus Christ at all times.”he said.
In a remark, the Chairperson of NAWOJ Enugu State, Comrade Ngozi Ngene, appreciated God for the success of the Inauguration.
“I really thank God for the success of the event. I also commend the team spirit that overwhelmed us during the planning and execution. I can never cease from appreciating the Chairman of the event planning Committee, Comrade Nwamaka Nzeadu, who worked tiredlessly to ensure its success.
“My regard also goes to all the executive and other members for their numerous contributions.
