The body of advisers to Governor Ikpeazu has endorsed Professor Ikonne’s 2023 Abia State Gubernatorial bid.
The group led by the Chairman, Hon Collins Nwakanma, made this known during a solidarity visit to Professor Ikonne at his Umuahia residence, described him as a distinguished administrator, whose competence, forthrightness and administrative Ingenuity can never be overemphasized.
Contributing, the three Abia geo- political zone coordinators; Hon. Tony Mezie Nwaubani, Engr. Ifeanyi Okorie and Engr Austin Stephen, described Prof. Ikonne’s political aspirations as most suitable, as Abia needs tested and trusted leader that would consolidate on the gains of Governor Ikpeazu.
Also, Princess Glad Apugo-Osoagbaka who spoke for the women Advisers and Mrs Joy Nwokocha who represented the Abia Diasporas, eulogised Professor Ikonne’s sterling qualities and pledged their loyalty to his noble ambition.
Equally in their goodwill messages Mr Tunji Jeromi the Adviser on Ethnic Harmony and Hon P. C . Mba PhD , expressed confidence in the person of Professor Ikonne who they attest to his forthrightness and competence even as the former Vice-Chancellor, ABSU.
In his response, Professor Ikonne thanked the body for the honour as well as promised to consolidate on the peaceful atmosphere created by the incumbent Governor. He also revealed that his administration will run an all inclusive government where every Abian will feel a sense of belonging regardless of “their ideosyncracy and different background”.
He enjoined the Advisers, who he identified as the human resources of Government to reach out to Abians with informed opinions about him, order than biased assessment that is predicated on domestic sympathy.
In his vote of thanks, the Director Ge, Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organisation Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi, thanked the body for their visit and implored them to remain resolute in their support for Professor Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne.
Chief Stanley Ojigbo,Chief Imo Mascot Obike and other notable members of the body were present during the visit.
