Gov. Ikpeazu, His wife, Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oko Chukwu and Others at the Thanksgiving Service.
The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, has called on mothers to be friendly with their children especially the girl child to avoid the inceasant rape that is prevalent in the society.
The Governor’s wife made the call at the Adventist Women’s Ministries Annual Federation /Completion of their Guest House Project and Thanksgiving service of Governor Ikpeazu’s, appeal court victory over his political opponent, Dr. Alex Otti, at Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local Government Area of the State.
Mrs. Ikpeazu, said that as far as she is in the church for thanksgiving and to support the women ministry of the church in their Guest House project, that she will not cease in advising the women to be closer to their daughters and to ensure that they know their genotype before going into marriage to avoid sickle cell anaemia.
In a brief sermon, Pastor of the church, Mr. Okwuonu Newman, said that women play vital roles in the growth of the church and in spreading the gospel.
He alluded that Deborah, in the Bible despite being a woman stood firm to judge Israel and led them to victory over their enemies.
In an address, the president of the women’s ministry, Mrs. Juliana Anyanwu, states that God has bestowed the responsibility of sponsoring the gospel and expanding His church on us all.
This task, the president maintains has no end until Jesus Christ returns for his church, therefore our focus is to complete God’s house.
Earlier, the chairman on the occasion, Mr. Chinedum Achibiri, said that the focus of our coming together for this year Adventist Women Ministry is to ensure that the aim of completing the guest house through our donations to the women ministry is achieved.
Meanwhile in a related development, the Governor’s wife also commissions a 3,bedroom bungalow each for Mrs Nwagwu Anyanwu, from Umuorji, Ohanze and Mrs. Christiana Israel, all in Obingwa LGA.
