A veteran politician and stakeholder in Abia State, Chief Eni Uche, has called on the people of Abia North Senatorial District to re-elect Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the 2027 general election, describing him as an experienced legislator whose record in office, according to him, justifies another term.
Speaking in an interview, Chief Uche said Senator Kalu has provided effective representation through the execution of constituency projects and interventions across the five local government areas of Abia North.
He credited the senator with facilitating projects in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, rural development, youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition, and other social intervention programmes, which he said have improved the lives of many residents.
According to him, Senator Kalu’s experience in national politics and his working relationship with members of the National Assembly and the Federal Government have strengthened his capacity to attract federal projects and development opportunities to the district.
He maintained that effective representation at the National Assembly requires experience, influence, and the ability to build productive relationships that deliver tangible benefits to constituents.
Chief Uche therefore appealed to the people of Ohafia and the entire Abia North Senatorial District to remain united and support Senator Kalu’s re-election, arguing that continuity would enable him to consolidate ongoing projects and attract additional federal presence to the area.
While endorsing the senator for another term, Chief Uche said that upon the completion of Senator Kalu’s tenure, the opportunity to represent Abia North in the Senate should naturally return to Ohafia.
He urged the people of Ohafia to begin preparing for that transition by identifying, mentoring, and supporting competent young leaders with the character, integrity, intelligence, and capacity to provide effective representation.
According to him, future representatives should possess leadership qualities, political maturity, sound communication skills, and the ability to build bipartisan relationships capable of attracting meaningful development projects to the district.
He added that such leaders should be committed to promoting quality education, improved healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, employment opportunities, and economic growth across Abia North.
Reflecting on his political journey, Chief Uche said his views were shaped by decades of active participation in Nigerian politics. He recalled working alongside prominent political figures, including Chief Ogbonnaya Okulonu during the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) era, and later with leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Senator Uba Ahmed and Chief Benjamin Apugo.
According to him, his years of political experience have enabled him to evaluate leaders based on performance, capacity, and commitment to public service rather than partisan considerations.
He urged the electorate to continue supporting leaders with proven records of effective representation, expressing confidence that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu would build on his achievements if re-elected, while encouraging Ohafia to nurture a new generation of visionary and service-oriented leaders for the future.
