The 16th President of United State of America Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Governor Alex Otti has embraced this philosophy wholeheartedly, leading Abia State through a year of remarkable progress and laying a solid foundation for a new era of development and prosperity. With a clear vision and unwavering commitment, he has set the stage for even more transformative changes in the coming 12 months, ensuring that Abia’s future is actively shaped by strategic initiatives and bold actions.

The Action Governor isn’t just waiting for Abia’s future to unfold; he’s actively shaping it through a strategic focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and economic empowerment. Even before completing his first year in office, Governor Otti has outlined a robust plan for the next year, demonstrating his dedication to working hard today with a keen eye on tomorrow.

One of the cornerstone projects that will redefine the state’s infrastructure is the reconstruction of the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia road. This major corridor, stretching 67.6 kilometers and managed by three reputable construction companies, is set to be completed within the next 12 months. Governor Otti’s urgency to recover lost ground is evident in his directive to the contractors to deliver the project ahead of schedule. This road will significantly enhance connectivity, making it easier for residents to travel and stimulating economic activities in the linked communities.

At the flag-off, Governor Otti emphasized the strategic importance of this project, highlighting the need for connectivity and economic stimulation. He envisions a scenario where Abians who live in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Aba, and other parts of the state feel free to return to their villages, spend time and money, and stimulate the local economy, thereby improving the quality of life for all residents.

Similarly, the Nunya-Eluama road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area is set to bridge the development divide between rural and urban areas. By facilitating farmers’ access to urban markets, this project will enhance agricultural productivity and economic growth. The reconstruction of the 3.5-kilometer Osisioma-Ekeakpara Industrial Road will restore Aba’s economic glory, creating a robust industrial and manufacturing hub. All these roads are scheduled for completion and commissioning within the next twelve months.

Governor Otti’s administration is also keen on transforming Abia’s agricultural sector. The training of 300 farmers at the CSS Global Integrated Farms in Nassarawa State is a strategic move to enhance local food production. These farmers, upon completion of their training, will contribute significantly to the state’s food supply chain, addressing food security, curbing unemployment, and fostering socio-economic stability.

On economic revitalization, the proposed new airport, planned in partnership with Access Bank and supported by the Federal Government, will be a game-changer for Abia State. With site inspections completed and regulatory requirements met, this project is set to accelerate development through job creation, promotion of commerce, and revenue generation. Governor Otti’s vision for the airport is ambitious: “Even if the money there may not complete it, but a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. We are in a hurry to deliver this project, and in the next one year, an airport will be standing.”

Moreover, the multi-billion-naira terminal project in Umuahia will transform the state capital into a central hub for transportation, elevating its status. Governor Otti envisions Umuahia as a proper capital city, with integrated parks, markets, and a railway terminal.

In alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s policy on affordable housing, Governor Otti’s administration is dedicated to ensuring quality housing for all Abians. The proposed federal housing project in the state, alongside the concept of a diaspora village, will address the housing needs of residents, fostering a sense of security and stability. Governor Otti’s Labour Party-led administration is committed to ensuring that every Abian has access to affordable housing.

Governor Otti’s achievements and future plans reflect his dedication to creating a new Abia, where every citizen can thrive. However, this vision can only be realized with the support of all Abians. Paying taxes, complying with environmental regulations, and supporting the administration’s initiatives are crucial for sustained development. As Abia State is about to experience remarkable growth and development, let us unite in supporting Governor Alex Otti’s administration. Together, we can build a prosperous and vibrant Abia, fulfilling the promise of a better future for all.
