Stop Hitting Up Rivers Polity, Okah tells Wike

The political elites in Rivers State are feeling uncomfortable with the protracted political crisis in the state, wherein both elders, youths and concerned residents are voicing and condemning attempts by individual or group to disrupt the peace of the state. According to them, Governor Fubara should be allowed to carry out the administration of the State without intimidation. Other neighboring States like Abia State are carrying out developmental projects because he operates on a free and peaceful atmosphere, stressing that the former governor Nyesom Wike should call his men to order especially the House of Assembly loyalists.

Former commissioner for Information in Rivers State Emma Okah had advised the FCT minister Nyesome Wike to stop hitting up the polity in the state. Dr. Okah said the regular visit of the FCT minister to the state are intended to distract governor Siminalaye Fubara. In an interview with our reporters, Dr. Emma Okah said that the minister should concentrate on his assignment in Abuja and leave the Rivers State governor alone to work. Stating that he can’t constantly be coming to disturb the peace of the state because if it were to be him, that is the governor, he would not have allowed any minister or anybody at all from outside to come and do what he is doing to the governor now. He further said that for the fact that Wike’s tenure as governor has ended and another person has taken over, he can not tell the person to continue to keep enemity with people especially when they don’t have direct problems. Adding that the best we can do as a state is to encourage the governor to bring everybody on board. He said the political crises will be over if the former governor put the interest of the state over personal reasons.

He therefore urge the FCT minister to allow Fubara to concentrate because Sim Fubara the governor has shown Rivers people that he means well for them.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication Joe Johnson who spoke while reacting to the comment made by the FCT minister that he does not foresee a reconciliation with governor Sim Fubara in the near future says there is no permanent enemy or friend in politics. Adding that today they may be enemies and tomorrow they will become best of friends. Therefore the issue should be left in the hands of God.

An elder states man in Rumuorlumeni community, Elder Bright Baridan said he love the current face off between the minister and the current governor of Rivers State. He said the era of godfatherism needs to come to an end. Everyone should mind his or her business and let everyone manage his or her resources than using Rivers people resources to maintain relationship that is not for the good of the people. He said we shouldn’t be under the control of anybody. Let the governor build his own structure and wait for the FCT minister come 2027. Adding that it is better for everyone to know his stand. You would recall that the FCT minister ruled out in reconciling with governor Fubara recently during a media chat.
