Otti Reassures Military Of Continued Support.

 

Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti has assured the military and para-military agencies in the State of government’s continued support tackling crime and other acts of insecurity within the State.

Dr Otti gave the assurance during the West Africa Social Activities ( WASA) 2023, held at Goodluck Jonathan Barracks, 14 Brigade Ohafia,
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, the governor expressed gladness and encouraged the sustainace of the tradition as it helps to promote cultural diffusion in the Military.

The state chief Executive commended the effort, dedication and sacrifice of the Nigerian Army in curbing various security challenges bedeviling the country, stretching from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and ethno-religious crises among others.

He noted that Abia State was impressed with the zeal, dedication and vigour with which the Nigerian Army confronts identified security challenges within the State and therefore used the opportunity to commend the officers and men of the brigade for your sacrificial contributions in the maintenance of peace and order in the State, while pledging the continuous support and collaboration of the government in all their operations.

In his speech, the Commander of 14 Brigade, Brig.Gen O.O.Diya thanked the Executive Governor for his assistance in all their operations towards promoting peace in the State.
WASA is a socio-cultural event organised to strengthen regimentation as well as promote cultural and family values in the Nigerian Army.

The event is held annually, to provide a forum for units and formations in the Nigerian Army to mark the successful end of the previous year and ushering of New year, with friends and families in attendance. It also serves as a forum to recognize personnel who have distinguished themselves in the past year.

Highlights of the event was cultural dances by various tribes in Nigeria, match parade by cadet officers, tug of war by different regiments and burning of camp fire which was lited by the Deputy Governor.
