Onyinye Ohuhu Elected President General As New Executive Members Emerge To Lead Ofeme Progressive Forum

 

A nine member Executive of the Ofeme Progressive Union Federated (OPUF), has been elected to champion the development drive of the Ofeme Community in Umuahia North LGA.

Three out of the four blocs, in Ofeme clan including, Amaetiti, Ude and Isingwu participated in the election which produced High Chief Raymond Ofoegbu as President General.

Other Members of the newly elected Executives are; Comrade, Sunny Iroji, Vice President, Mr. Okezie Enyinnaya Victor, Secretary General, Mr. Nwachukwu Ikechukwu, Assistant. Secretary General, and Mr. Iweha Chidozie, Financial Secretary.

 

The rest are; Mr. Chionye Amadi, Assistant Fin.Sec, Hon. Prince Obioma Oburuoga, Public Relations Officer. (P.R.O), Comrade, Emma Nwokenna, Treasurer and Elder, Ezeagwula Shedrack, Ex-Officio 1.

Speaking to Newsmen at the end of the exercise held at the Community Secondary School, Ofeme, Chairman, OPUF electoral committee 2024, Barr. Johnson Kalu who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise said the event marks the beginning of a new dawn for the community.

Barr. Kalu expressed optimism that the newly elected Executive Members would take on the responsibility of addressing the needs and aspirations of the Ofeme community to foster progress and enhance the quality of life for all.


He acknowledged the underdevelopment of the community despite parading high calibre of indigenes and emphasized the need for proactive leaders to collaborate with the community for progress of the Ofeme land.

“We want people who will work for this clan and do actually what would bring unity, prosperity and development to Ofeme clan.

 

“Although the task ahead will not be easy for the newly elected Exco, we promise to give them all the necessary support. We will do everything to unify our people and foster progress”, Barr Kalu affirmed.

He also praised Governor Alex Otti’s efforts in addressing issues such as erosion control and directing the rebuilding process of the Ofeme Primary school recently raised down by fire.

 

In their separate speeches earlier, the Secretary Interim Committee, Chief Ken Nwokoafor, Chief Julius Ikegwu, Mr Okechukwu Innocent and the Youth leader of Ofeme, Chief Maxwell Igbe said that the Community is in dare need of leadership that will bring Ofeme to be at per with other Communities in Ohuhu in terms of development.

While noting that peace is a panache to development, they called on indigenes of Ofeme to unite towards taking the community to the next level.

Also speaking, some Elders including Chief Onwuka Iroele, Elder Law Echerenwa, Mr Francis Okeojie Daniel among others stressed the need for peaceful coexistence in the land , describing the new Leadership as the begining of a new era that would birth unity and socio-economic growth in Ofeme Community.
