New Abia Dream: You’ve a critical role to play, Abia SSG tells the Church.

Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the Secretary to the Abia State Government encouraged Churches in the State to see themselves as actors in the realization of the new Abia dream being championed by the Dr Alex Otti’s led administration.

Dr Kalu who made the call during the 2023 Father’s Day celebration of the Men’s Christian Association of the St Peter’s Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Abiriba street, Umuahia said the best the Church can do is to pray for courage, will power and enablement to actualize their vision as the task of rebuilding Abia is enormous.

The SSG restated that the main thrust of the present administration is to focus more on the rebuilding processes of the State anchored on regular payment of salary, pension and gratuity arrears as well as transforming and changing the developmental narratives across the State.

He congratulated the Men’s Christian Association of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria on the celebration of their Father’s Day as well as all the awardees on their well deserved honours and urged Abians to continue to exercise patience with Government as it battles to get things right.

In his sermon, the Moderator, St Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Umuahia Parish, The Rev Dr Chinedu Okoroafor described men as pillars of God’s Church and strength of their various families and enjoined christian men to present themselves as instruments worthy of God’s use.

Preaching on the sub theme of this year’s Father’s Day “Man As Instrument Of Divine Intervention”, The Rev Dr Okoroafor named humility, total obedience to God’s word, being willing and available for God’s work and appropriating all Glory to God as qualities that qualifies man to be recipients of God’s intervention and blessings.

In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Elder Ademe Kalu enjoined christians to be faithful in giving towards the advancement of the Church and encouraged MCA members of the Presbyterian Church to continue to promote and foster christian principles within their members.

Highlight of the Service were presentation of awards deserving members including legal luminaries, Elder Justice Kalu Ogbonnaya Amah, Dr Ahamefula Amaramiro, Prof Dick Uduma, Mrs Comfort Ukah and Mr and Mrs Mba as Father of the year, Scholar of Repute, friends of MCA and couple of the year among others.

the Service featured special prayers for the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, his Deputy, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu and the SSG, Prof Kenneth Kalu for Wisdom, Grace and knowledge to pilot and effect the much needed change in the State.
