The Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, has called on members of the Labour Party in Umuahia North Local Government Area to remain united, peaceful and committed to the progress of the party and the development of Abia Stat
Dr. Meribole made the call when he received the newly inaugurated executive members of the Labour Party, Umuahia North LGA, led by their Chairman, Mr. Mike Nwachukwu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The SSG commended the new executive for securing a new office, describing the development as a positive step towards strengthening the party’s activities and visibility in the local government area.
He assured the delegation that the concerns and requests presented during the visit would be carefully considered and addressed.
Dr. Meribole said the administration of Governor Alex Otti remained committed to transforming Abia State, noting that the state had recorded significant developments since the administration came into office.
He urged members of the Labour Party, especially the youths, to take advantage of available government opportunities and initiatives to acquire relevant skills that would promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The SSG also invited the Labour Party leadership and its members to actively participate in the 2026 Abia Day celebration, scheduled to begin on August 23, 2026.
He said the celebration would provide an opportunity for citizens to showcase and promote the rich cultural heritage, values and identity of Abia State.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Labour Party, Umuahia North LGA, Mr. Mike Nwachukwu, said the visit was to enable the newly inaugurated executive members to formally identify with the SSG.
Mr. Nwachukwu briefed the SSG on the agenda of the new leadership and highlighted some of the challenges facing the party in the local government area.
He thanked Dr. Meribole for receiving the delegation and for his willingness to listen to and consider the concerns raised by the party leadership.
