DEPUTY GOVERNOR EMETU CELEBRATES WORLD YOUTH DAY, SAYS YOUTHS HOLD KEY TO ABIA’S FUTURE
The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has felicitated with the youths of the state on the occasion of the 2026 World Youth Day, urging them to remain focused, united and innovative as they contribute to the development of Abia.
In a message to mark the day, celebrated under the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” Emetu said the theme reflects the shared aspirations of young people across different backgrounds for a better, more inclusive and prosperous future.
The Deputy Governor described Abia youths as a driving force behind the growth and progress of the state, noting that their energy, creativity, resilience and innovative ideas are essential to building the Abia of the people’s dreams.
He said the administration of Governor Alex Otti is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people, particularly in skills acquisition, education, technology, entrepreneurship and other sectors that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy and society.
Emetu urged the youths not to allow challenges to discourage them, but to turn difficulties into opportunities for growth and achievement.
“Don’t let challenges stop you. Turn them into stepping stones. Use your talents to help build a better society,” he said.
He also called on young people across the state to shun violence, division and hopelessness, and embrace unity, hard work, innovation, responsible citizenship and positive contributions to society.
According to him, the aspirations of young people should unite rather than divide them, stressing that youths are not merely leaders of tomorrow but active participants in building Abia today.
“No matter where we come from, we should not let it pull us apart. The things we hope for should bring us together. Abia youths are not just leaders of tomorrow; we are building Abia together today,” he said.
The Deputy Governor congratulated the youths of Abia State and assured them that their aspirations and contributions remain vital to shaping the future of the state.
