I Will Not Divert Constituency Projects- Fed Lawmaker, Hon Nkwonta Vows

The lawmaker representing Ukwa Federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Chris Nkwonta has vowed not to divert constituency projects due his constituents.

Speaking further at his inauguration dinner in Abuja recently, Hon. Nkwonta assured the people of Ukwa that every community would get whatever that is allocated to them at the right time.

The federal legislator described his emergence as a victory for all Ukwa people, noting that he joined politics not for selfish gains but for a platform to serve his people better.

In his words: “This is our victory and not my victory. I have come at this time to contribute my quota to the development of Ukwa federal constituency.

The Ndoki-born philanthropist recalled that about 145 indigent persons from Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas (LGAs) have benefitted from his scholarship programmes till date, adding that he would continue to promote the welfare and interest of his people in his capacity by the grace of God.

Hon. Nkwonta who further hailed Ukwa resilience and genuine love for him, expressed through their votes, promised not to disappoint his constituents.

 

Sir Nkwonta who decried the level of underdevelopment in the oil-rich area, also promised to work in synergy with his colleagues and relevant agencies to reorder the course of event for the benefits of his people.

In his remark at the inauguration Dinner in Abuja, the former Senate President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara (GCON) described Hon. Chris Nkwonta as a focused, patient and selfless leader whose has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Ukwa-East and Ukwa Wast Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Abia State.

This, he explained made Hon. Nkwonta the highest elected PDP member in Abia state against the recent strange wave that swept many politicians away.

Wabara further called on youths to emulate Hon. Nkwonta’s doggedness and fighting spirit, disclosing that the federal lawmaker had contested the same position with him 31years ago but finally broke through in the 2023 general polls.

Dr.Wabara who prayed that God would grant the legislator divine wisdom, guidance and protection, further expressed hope that Nkwonta would live up to the expectations of his constituents.

Contributing, the former Chairman, Abia state oil producing Area Development Commission (ASOPADEC) and Chairman, Chris Nkwonta Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, described Hon. Nkwonta as a diligent man, urging him to synergize to achieve more for the people of Ukwa Federal constituents.

In his remark, the Chairman, Ukwa-East Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRM Eze Tony Wabara, expressed the willingness of traditional institution to support Hon. Nkwonta in his new capacity, describing him as a worthy son of Ndoki and Ukwa land.

In a related development, the PDP Chairman, Abia state, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere (Ph.D), has described Hon. Nkwonta as a worthy son of Ndoki land and Abia state, noting that his antecedent and impeccable character has endeared him to the people of Ukwa Federal constituency.

Okere who pledged the support of their party, PDP, expressed hope that Hon. Nkwonta would represent Ukwa Federal constituency effectively at the National Assembly, Abuja.

In his goodwill message, the former Commissioner for Information and former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Abia state, Pastor Ralph Egbu, commended the lawmaker for his hard work and urged him to always keep in touch with his constituents.

The former Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor, who urged Nkwonta to woo oil investors to Ukwa land, also pledged the support of Asa people (Ukwa-West), wishing him a successful term at the National Assembly.

The inauguration of Hon. Chris Nkwonta as the member representing Ukwa Federal constituency, Federal House of Representatives at National Assembly generated positive reactions from every quarter as the people expect him to change the ugly narratives.

This may not be unconnected to his long-existing philanthropic programmes especially in the area of medical outreaches, scholarship programmes where about 200 youths have benefited from his foreign and local scholarships among others.

The event which took place at the green chamber of the National Assembly FCT Abuja attracted personalities from all walks of life to felicitate with the representatives.
