Governor Otti Kickstarts Reconstruction Of Enyimba-Ariaria Road

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has announced the commencement of the reconstruction of the Enyimba-Ariaria Road in the Ariaria International Market, aimed at easing the challenges faced by traders.

 

Governor Otti who stated this during an inspection visit on the road, confirmed that the contract for the road reconstruction had been awarded and work would begin before the week ends.

 

He said that the reconstruction will cover the stretch from Ariaria junction to the expressway to facilitate smooth access to the market and mitigate issues like flooding.

 

“Yesterday, I approved the contract for the reconstruction of the Enyimba-Ariaria Road in Ariaria International Market.

“So before the end of this week, work would commence in earnest on the road.

 

“The rehabilitation of the road would stretch from inside the market to the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway”, Governor Otti stated.

 

Governor Otti who highlighted his administration’s commitment to facilitate commerce in Aba and across the state, emphasized the significance of creating conducive environment for business to thrive.

 

Addressing the issue of waste management, the Governor underscored the need for prompt evacuation of refuse dumps to mitigate flooding in Ariaria market said; “We are here to clear the waste that is here in the market.

 

“The evacuation has began but there is still a lot of work to be done in clearing the refuse.

“I was made to understand that the waste is the major cause of the flooding experienced in Ariaria.

 

“This makes very important for the evacuation to be done quickly”.

 

 

While emphasizing the importance of proper drainage maintenance to manage stormwater during the rainy season, Governor Otti expressed the government’s determination to eliminate perennial flooding in the market and directed relevant agencies to ensure the complete evacuation of waste within one week
to alleviate flooding problems in the market area.

 

He encouraged the traders to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness within their environment as well as support the government’s cleanup initiatives aimed at transforming Abia into a cleaner and more habitable state.
