Gov Otti Commiserates With President Tinubu Over Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Lagbaja’s Death

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has commiserated with President Bola Tinubu over the demise of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.

 

Governor Otti conveyed his condolences on Wednesday during a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, Miss Rinsola Abiola, in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

 

Describing Lagbaja’s death as a personal loss, Governor Otti who expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident, highlighted the strong and cordial relationship he shared with the late Army Chief. Lagbaja, who passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos following an illness.

Aged 56, the late Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Bola Tinubu.

 

Governor Otti recalled the support he received from the deceased, particularly during a crisis in Aba when some soldiers were killed.

 

“I want to start by commiserating with the President on the unfortunate demise of the Chief of Army Staff which was announced this morning.

“It is a personal loss to me because he was my friend and he had been here to visit me and had given me so much support including the time that soldiers were murdered here.

 

“He was central to ensuring that the flair went down, when I called him, he responded very efficiently, so it is a personal loss to me.

 

“At 56, so nobody expected that he would leave the way he did but life and death is in the hands of God and we can’t question God”.
