Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed widespread rumours alleging that he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), maintaining that he remains fully committed to the party.
The governor made the clarification on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the newly completed General Hospital project in Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt.
Reacting to reports circulating on social media, Fubara described the claims as false and based on misinterpretations, urging members of the public to ignore such speculations.
According to him, “There has been so much drama in the media with different stories making the rounds. I am still a member of APC and nothing has changed. People should stop relying on social media reports or personal interpretations to misrepresent me.”
He further stressed that his loyalty to the party remains intact, noting that the collective interest and unity of the APC should remain paramount.
Speaking on the hospital projects, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving healthcare delivery across the state, emphasizing that the welfare and protection of lives remain central to his government’s priorities.
He explained that the General Hospital project was conceived to address the healthcare challenges faced by residents of Rumuigbo, Rumuola, Rumuolumeni and neighbouring communities, who previously depended largely on the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for medical services.
The governor noted that the available space within the Neuropsychiatric Hospital premises was utilized to develop the facility in order to bring quality healthcare services closer to the people.
Expressing satisfaction with the level of work done, Fubara disclosed that the project had reached about 95 percent completion, describing it as a fulfillment of his administration’s promise to the people.
He added that governance should be focused on impactful projects capable of improving the living conditions of citizens.
