Covid 19: Council boss inspects Borders across Umuahia North

 

Following the Abia state government’s directive that all Transition Committee Chairmen of the various Local Government Councils of the state to ensure total lockdown of their borders, as government will hold responsible, TC Chairmen of any local government where any of the Covid-19 directives is breached, more importantly as it concerns our borders, the Umuahia North TC chairman, Hon Lucky Akabuike has gone round to inspect the various borders across the Umuahia North L.G.A.

Monitoring the Imo River border at the Uhuala Ofiyi Oriendu boundary, Ohuhu, the council chairman who frowned at the rate motorists ply the route, said the vigilante group in-charge of the border should not compromise or flout the order dished out by the government, but ensure effective lockdown of the border.

According to him, the vigilante group as a matter of importance, should desist from the illegal collection of money from transporters whose covid 19 status are unknown to gain access into the state, as already there are reports pointing to that direction, pleading for them to display a high level of discipline, so as not to disappoint the purpose for being instituted.

The Umuahia North boss said the vigilante group would be held responsible for any breach of the inter-state ban, adding that when caught they would be apprehended before the Mobile court.

He, however, stated that if the motorists were right with their movement,why then do they seek to pass through local routes, abandoning the expressway.

Hon Akabuike,further enjoined the vigilante group that the hope of the people of Oriendu,Ohuhu to be free from Covid 19 pandemic is in their hands and if they fail,they will be putting everyone at risk including their own families, because they do not know the status of those who pass through the route.

He, therefore, encouraged them to protect their father’s land tightly, by refusing pass to stranger elements.

The TC chairman was accompanied by the Deputy TC chairman, the Chief of staff, Supervisory councillors,members of the NSCDC and the Press.
