Residents of Alayi, Ugwueke, Umuhu, Ozuitem, Uzuakoli and Nkpa-Umuimenyi wards in Bende Federal Constituency have continued to benefit from the sustained philanthropic efforts of Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, as the Chima Anyaso Foundation’s ongoing free eye care outreach entered its third and fourth days in Igbere.
The outreach programme, organised by the Chima Anyaso Foundation in collaboration with Rebirth Ministry and Precious Sight Foundation, and in partnership with the Abia State Government, attracted a large turnout of beneficiaries, including elderly persons, youths and children seeking free eye care services.
The initiative forms part of the foundation’s humanitarian interventions spanning over 18 years, aimed at improving the wellbeing of people across communities in Bende and beyond.
Activities at the outreach centre began early on both days, with buses provided by the foundation conveying residents from different wards to the venue. Beneficiaries were seen expressing excitement and appreciation as they arrived for medical attention.
Medical personnel and volunteers attended to patients through eye examinations, treatments and referrals for further care where necessary. Many participants described the outreach as timely and impactful, especially for individuals living with untreated vision-related challenges due to limited access to healthcare services.
Some beneficiaries said the programme had restored hope to families struggling with eye conditions, noting that the intervention provided not only medical relief but also encouragement and renewed confidence.
Representatives of the Chima Anyaso Foundation reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to delivering life-changing interventions to underserved communities, stressing that the outreach reflects Dr. Anyaso’s longstanding dedication to humanitarian service.
According to the organisers, the Day 3 and Day 4 activities further demonstrated the foundation’s resolve to address critical eye health concerns while improving the quality of life of residents across the constituency.
The outreach programme is expected to continue until Friday, with residents of Bende and Itumbauzo wards scheduled to benefit in the next phase.
As the exercise progresses, residents of Igbere and neighbouring communities have expressed optimism that the initiative will continue to expand its impact by restoring sight and bringing renewed hope to more people across the area.
