Alleged Police Shooting: Family of the deceased cries for justice

The family of late Daniel Ikeaguchi, a 20 year old man who was allegedly shut to death by a police officer, in a super market at Elelenwo last Saturday, when the deceased and two of his friends were been chased by personnel of anti kidnapping unit are calling for justice.

 

Elder sister of the deceased miss Maureen Ikeaguchi in an interview with our reporter decried the inhumane treatment given to her brother, and appeal to the appropriate authorities to ensure the matter is not swept under the carpet.

 

” The manner of what they did to my  brother is inhumane. The way they were parading with his body. Instead of taking him to the hospital. It is iota of brutality. I want justice for my brother. I want them to face the law”

Miss Maureen Ikeaguchi said nothing incriminating was found on her brother, neither did he commit any crime to warrant been shut.

 

However, a human rights activist in Rivers State Prince Ihunwo has called on the commissioner of police to ensure justice is served in the matter.

 

” We have learnt about the alleged killing of a 20 year old Daniel Chibuike by a police officer in Rivers State. We condemn it in it’s entirety”

 

The human rights activist Prince Ihunwo further call on the commissioner of police C.P Joseph Mukan to ensure justice is served to all the parties involved in the matter, and urged the commissioner to show his zero tolerance to human rights abuses as he has promised.

Meanwhile, the Spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the DPO of Elelewon, CSP Chima Nnaji has arrested and transferred the sergeant and four police officers from Anti-kidnapping involved in the incident to state Criminal Investigation Department, CID for further investigation.
