Akwa Ibom State Vice Chairman, Civil Liberties Organization,CLO, Comrade Eridiong Obong has petitioned the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi over an attempted murder case over him by his former tenant, Ndifreke Philip Akpan and two of his brothers.
In a petition signed by the CLO VC, and obtained by our correspondent over the weekend, he urged the police Commissioner to conduct thorough investigations into threat to his life and that of his wife as well as physical assault perpetrated by the defendants.
The petition entitled,”Petition of attempted murder,malicious damage and threatening violence: call for holistic investigation” also alleged that the suspect alongside two others inflicted serious injuries on him and his wife while attempting to stop them from packing their belongings out of his house due to his(the suspect) refusal to pay for damages in the flat he was occupying amounting to N147,000.
The petition read in parts, “I write to report to the Commissioner of Police of the criminal and obnoxious attitude of the above mentioned persons who have vowed to kill me and my wife for no reason.
“It all happened like this, on 16 December, 2023 Ndifreke Philip who was my tenant decided to vacate which was okay by me. Sir, at the point of parking, I discovered that he has damaged the toilet door valued N50,000.00 and the prepaid meter valued N97,000.00 and I approached him peacefully for a replacement before handing over the keys to me which I said does not stop him from parking. Sir, this was the beginning of my ordeal.
“Surprisingly Sir, the trio constraint to violence and promised me that in a very short time that I will look for a help to take me to the hospital. Sir, truth to their words, they used different instrument of violence, iron rods, padlock and machete and gave me a cut on my head, also on my right arm and my wife Janet Obong on her neck, they gave me fist blows all over my body until I became helpless but sympathizers rushed me to the hospital, photograph is here attached for your close examination.
“As if that was not enough, they have promised to kill me boasted that they have a Superintendent of Police if I like I should report to the Police, I seek the protection of the law through your office.
It is against the foregoing facts, that I petition your esteem offices to urgently step into this matter for justice to prevail. “A stitch in time saves nine” they say.” He cried.
