Abia Marketing Agency set to commence inspection of Hotels,Eatries , others, vows to ensure adherence to quality standards.

The Director General of the Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency, Sam Hart, says the agency will commence inspection of Eatries, Hotels,Factories Industries in the state to ensure they meet up with adequate quality control measures that are in line with International best standards.
The Director General,who made this known in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia, also stated that the inspection which will commence by January 2020, will be carried out in collaboration with the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) as well as the  National Agency For Food Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC).

 

He disclosed that apart from the scheduled inspection,the agency will equally embark on periodic random quality checks to ensure that consumers are not exposed to health risks.

 

Hart, whose agency is saddled with the responsibility of expanding already existing markets for all goods produced  in the state, assured that the agency will live up to it’s mandate of enforcing quality standards of all goods and services produced and offered in the state.

 

While commending the state Governor Dr, Okezie Ikpeazu for setting up rice Mills in five rural communities in the state to boost production of Abia rice popularly known as Osikapa Abia, the DG said the initiative will catalyze the rural economy,empower local farmers in addition to increasing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Abia state.
The Director General who said that the state government is also making a head way in oil palm, cassava production, poultry,shoe,leather and garment production among others, noted that the government has established outlets in and outside the country for all goods produced in the state.
