Abia State Commissioner for Health, Professor Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, has commended the Chima Anyaso Foundation for its humanitarian intervention during a five-day free eye care outreach held in Bende Federal Constituency.
Speaking at the conclusion of the programme, Professor Uche said the initiative had restored sight and hope to many residents, describing it as a impactful intervention worthy of continued support and expansion.
“I believe our people can now see clearly again. We have witnessed the Ofuji phenomenon, and it is left for us to make good use of what we have seen,” he said.
He noted that the Abia State Ministry of Health was satisfied with the success of the outreach and would formally report its impact to Governor Alex Otti’s administration. According to him, the collaboration between the Ministry and the Chima Anyaso Foundation is expected to grow stronger in future health interventions.
“The Ministry of Health is very happy with what you are doing. We will inform His Excellency about the success of this programme, and we hope our relationship with the Chima Anyaso Foundation will continue to grow. Next year’s programme will be even better,” he added.
Professor Uche also praised the people of Bende, describing them as a community of capable and responsible individuals contributing to societal development. He further commended Chief Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso for sponsoring the outreach, urging him and other philanthropists to sustain and expand similar interventions.
“We are happy that Chief Anyaso sponsored this programme. We encourage him to continue doing more for the people, and we also urge others to emulate this gesture,” he said.
He advised beneficiaries to adhere strictly to medical instructions provided by health professionals and emphasized the importance of proper patient documentation for effective follow-up care.
The commissioner also applauded the medical and technical teams for their dedication and sacrifice throughout the exercise.
The outreach, organised by the Chima Anyaso Foundation in partnership with the Rebirth Ministry and Precious Sight Foundation, with support from the Abia State Government, provided free eye screening, treatment, and related medical services to residents across communities in Bende Federal Constituency.
