Abia Govt House Launches Monthly Staff Engagement Framework

…Targets Improved Service Delivery

 

The Director-in-Charge (DIC) of Government House, Umuahia, Mrs. Onyedikachi Ogwo has officially declared open, the Monthly Staff Engagement and Motivational Framework for the staff of the Government House Umuahia.

 

Declaring the event opened on Monday, Mrs. Ogwo urged the staff to take the ongoing training programme facilitated by the state Head of Service seriously, adding that, the programme is a critical component of the workforce development initiatives of the administration of Governor Alex Otti, aimed at improving efficiency and productivity across the Abia State Civil Service.

Mrs. Ogwo described the framework as a deliberate and strategic shift in the way staff communicate, collaborate, and grow together as one family, noting that the initiative is designed to strengthen existing values and provide a more structured platform for staff engagement and institutional development.

 

According to the Director-in-Charge, the framework rests on four key pillars including, leadership communication , staff engagement and feedback, staff recognition and training as well as welfare initiatives, and noted that these pillars would shape the internal culture of Government House and the service generally going forward.

 

Mrs. Ogwo stated that effective leaders are role models who demonstrate understanding, inclusiveness, tolerance, and the ability to carry everyone along irrespective of individual differences.

“Leadership should unite rather than divide and should create an enabling environment where every member of staff feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of organizational goals”, she said.

The DIC, further explained that, as part of efforts to promote open communication and constructive feedback, management has approved the establishment of an anonymous feedback mechanism through a designated suggestion box.

 

She noted that the platform would provide staff members with the opportunity to freely express their views, make recommendations, raise concerns, and contribute ideas geared towards improving workplace conditions and enhancing service delivery.

 

Mrs. Ogwo assured staff that all submissions would remain strictly confidential and emphasized that contributors would not be required to disclose their identities when making suggestions or observations.

According to her, the measure is intended to encourage sincerity, openness, and confidence among staff members while providing management with valuable insights into issues affecting workplace performance and staff welfare.

 

The objective is to create a safe and secure platform where every member of staff can speak freely and constructively. 

 

“Through this process, management will gain a better understanding of workplace realities and identify practical solutions that will enhance productivity and staff satisfaction”, the DIC stated.

She expressed confidence that the Monthly Staff Engagement and Motivational Framework would serve as a continuous platform for dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding, to strengthen institutional cohesion and improve service delivery within Government House.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the entire staff, the Vice Chairman , Staff Welfare Association of Government House and Transport Officer, Mr. Iheanyị Nna, expressed appreciation to the state Head of Service, the Director-in-Charge and the management team for introducing the initiative.

 

He assured management of the commitment of staff to actively participate in the training programmes and fully support efforts aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity within Government House.
