The Abia State Government has successfully conducted the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for applicants seeking admission into the 2026 Abia State Leadership Academy. The examination was held at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) CBT Centre, with thousands of young applicants taking part in the exercise.
Speaking while monitoring the examination, the President of the Abia State Leadership Academy and former Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, expressed satisfaction with the smooth and well-organised conduct of the exercise. He praised the officials for ensuring a seamless process and commended the large turnout of applicants.
Professor Kalu said the strong interest shown by young people demonstrates their willingness to learn ethical leadership, develop good character, and acquire life skills that will prepare them for future leadership roles.
He thanked Governor Alex Otti for establishing the Leadership Academy, describing it as a visionary initiative aimed at raising a new generation of responsible, disciplined, and morally upright leaders for Abia State.
According to him, the Academy received more than 7,000 applications for the 2026 admission exercise. However, only the best 1,000 candidates will be selected after the screening process.
Professor Kalu encouraged all applicants to embrace the values of integrity, discipline, empathy, and civic responsibility, stressing that these qualities are important for building a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous society. He urged them to remain focused and committed to making meaningful contributions to the development of Abia State.
Some of the applicants, including Tehillah Onyemachi, Christian Ugochukwu, Amarachi Vincent, Jubilee Francis, and Angel Chikara, thanked Governor Alex Otti for creating the Leadership Academy. They described the programme as a great opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills, build good character, and prepare themselves to serve their communities and contribute to the growth and development of Abia State.
