Abia 7th Assembly: Hon Chinedum Orji – The Eagle lawmaker

Lawmaking all over the world is not a tea party for weak minds, neither is it for the gullible opportunist, stingy, nor for the greedy people. It is also not for the naïve and green horns but for people-oriented minds.
Eagles are not seen anyhow but are rarely found once at a time in a blue moon.
Unlike Chickens, eagles do not lay eggs in a corner. In the same vein, experienced lawmakers who have the interest of their people in mind are few and very difficult to come by as most of them who claim to represent their people are only representing themselves, and pockets. This is evident in the type of bills and motions they sponsor per time.
Just like Senator John McCain of United States of America who represented his people qualitatively in the senate for 36years, Hon Engr. Chinedum Orji who represents Umuahia Central State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly has shown capacity and changed the narratives through his dynamic leadership style.
One of the notable legislators once opined that lawmakers do not build roads, schools, among other social investment that affects the lives of his constituents, as they only make laws.
But this quintessential lawmaker, Hon Chinedum Orji, has changed the narratives by combining legislation with meeting the needs of his constituents.
He has jettisoned the old way of politics which involves diverting of constituency project funds for personal enrichment.
He has written his name in gold by executing people-oriented verifiable projects that impact his constituencies positively.
He has, through his Direct Touch Initiative, massively lifted the standard of living of his constituents.
The Abia lawmaker, Ikuku Oma Abia, as he is fondly called, knows the value of portable water and has ensured that the reticulation of quality pipe-borne water gets to every nook and cranny of his constituency (World-Bank Housing Estate, Federal Low-cost Housing Estate, Amuzukwu, School Road neighborhood, among others). He has also provided for his people modern electricity transformers, renovation of schools, health facilities, among others.
The artisans and indigent students/pupils in his constituency were not left behind as he has continuously empowered them with scholarships, cars, tricycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, hair salon equipments, cash gifts, among others.
He has enormously invested in the Human Capital Development by constructing a 3-classroom block, 3-room toilet facility and sunk a-water borehole at Loritta primary school. The story was same at St. Michaels Primary School, where he assisted in the perimeter fencing of the School, renovated some classroom blocks and provided portable pipe borne water for them. This gesture was extended to Amuzukwu Girls Secondary school as he changed the worn out roofs with new ones, renovated their playing field, as well as sunk a new borehole for them.
Amuzukwu Primary School, Methodist Girls High School, St. Stephens Primary School, Union Primary School, Afara Technical School, School Road Primary School, World Bank Health Centre, World Bank Primary School, among others within the constituency benefited hugely from the generosity this God-sent servant leader of our time. World Bank Police Station and Central Police Station also got their own share of Ikuku-Oma Abias benevolence Amuzukwu Women Town Hall and Umuwaya Village Hall were completed by Hon. Orji while Ohobo in Afaraukwu, Amokwe in Ugba, received transformers, boreholes, cash gifts, among other necessities of life.
Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, an astute politician and a lawmaker par excellence has taken his people-oriented style of leadership beyond his constituency and remains the only lawmaker to empower others outside his constituency.
The bridge-builders love for Abians has made him to shun social status or class in order to relate directly with the poorest of the poor in the society. Empowering them first before knowing where they come from.
Unlike other politicians who hold social status so dearly, Engr. Chinedum Orji treats everyone with utmost respect, irrespective of religious and political affiliations. No one has ever come in direct contact with Engr. Orji without having good smiles written all over his/her face as he would always look for a way to impact on the person.
Ikuku, as the majority leader of the 6th Abia State House of Assembly did not only compliment the executive arm of the government, but ensured that Abians, ably led by Gov. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, enjoy the dividends of democracy even amidst paucity of funds in the country.
Even contrary to peoples expectations, Hon. Engr Orji used his position as the Majority Leader to ensure peace and stability in the Abia Assembly with uncommon cooperation with the executive arm of the government.
His meekness endeared him to his colleagues and other politician which has yielded dividends in the state.
It is also not surprising that, the legislator is so much loved and popular among children, youth, women, widows, middle-aged, old, among others in Abia.
The Youth Vanguard, who is always accessible, unlike most politicians, remains a loyal party man and has openly supported the administration of Gov. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (Ph. D), in no small measure even in his second term re-election. These made his constituents to hurriedly returned him to the Abia House of Assembly in the just concluded 2019 general polls.
Little wonder, his dearth of knowledge in the legislative duties of the Abia House of Assembly and down-to earth personality has generated so many calls/endorsements from almost all his fellow Abia lawmakers to accept the speakership of the Abia 7th Assembly.
This, will promote quality leadership in the Abia Assembly, enhance robust inter arm of government relationship which will create an enabling environment for the continued progress, development and prosperity of all Abians once he emerges as the Abia 7th Assembly Speaker, no doubt, the Direct Touch Initiative of Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji will be widened to cover more Abians beyond his immediate constituency.
The interest of the party; Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will also be given accelerated attention thus creating a serene atmosphere void of hostility.
The youths, women, men and elderly are patiently waiting for this day because it will bring for this a paradigm shift from the old style of legislation to a new productive way of legislating for the masses interests.
It will definitely be a new dawn in Abia if Ikuku Oma Abia emerges the speaker of the Abia 7th Assembly.
There is no need searching for the one whom the cap fits, The Cap fits Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji (Ikuku Oma Abia) let him wear it.
God bless Abia State!
