Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has explained why the office of the Chief of Staff(COS) to the Governor has remained vacant since the demise of the former Chief of Staff,Sir Chijioke Nwakodo.
Governor Ikpeazu said the reason for the vacancy in the office is the state government’s inability to find a man in character and integrity which the late Nwakodo exhibited.
Ikpeazu, who was speaking at a Memorial Service in honour of the former COS held at St. Thomas Anglican Church Umuana Ndume,described the deceased as a worthy friend adding that death has not achieved it’s essennce as the legacy of the Late Nwakodo lives.
He advised the wife,Mrs Bisiola Nwakodo to hold on to Christ adding that she deserves kudos for holding the family together since the demise of her husband.
Speaking on behalf of the Friends of Chijioke Nwakodo, the state Commissioner for a Transport,Chief Chinedum Elechi said the late Nwakodo has merely transcended as his legacy lives adding that he has left indelible mark on the sands of time.
Earlier in his sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Ikwuano Diocese, Rt. Rev Chigozie Onyegbule who spoke on the topic “A legacy of a good name: Chijioke Nwakodo”,harped on the need for Christians to live a worthy life which they will be remembered for.
He pointed out that the deaseased imparted on the lives of the people positively through his love and generosity.
The memorial Service which attracted friends and family of the late Chijioke Nwakodo also featured prayers for the deceased family .
