Emede Youth Association Holds Election, Elects New Executive

Members of the Emede Youth Association (EYA) recently held their general election at Umueze Civic Hall, Emede Ibeku, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The election marked a unique moment in the history of the association, as the newly elected president, Hon. Uzodinma Nwoko, comes from Agbo community, which has never produced a president of the association before.

Earlier, the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Tobechi Iroanya, thanked members for their strong support during the committee’s three to four months in office. He urged members to vote wisely so that credible leaders could emerge.

He explained that only four members picked interest forms to contest for four different positions. He then asked the house whether the election should go on, and members unanimously agreed that the election must be held, as it was constitutional.

All four aspirants passed through accreditation, while a total of 10 members were accredited to vote.
