Abia Head of Service Advocates Integrity and Selfless Leadership in Civil Service

 

The Head of Service in Abia State, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has called for selfless leadership and unwavering integrity as essential principles for Civil Servants in the state.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the State Executive of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGEA), led by Comrade Linda Ihuoma Unaeze, Mr. Ojeikere emphasized that these values are critical for building a strong and ethical public service.

He highlighted that true leadership requires prioritizing the collective good over personal interests, urging Civil Servants to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and sacrifice. “Leadership is about service and the willingness to bear the burdens of others for the greater good,” he said.

Mr. Ojeikere reaffirmed the Abia State Government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and professional development of Civil Servants. He also underscored ongoing efforts to create a work environment that fosters efficiency, accountability, and ethical conduct.

He further urged Civil Servants to reject fraudulent practices, apathy, and complacency, advocating for a culture of diligence, transparency, and integrity in the workplace.

In her remarks, the President of NULGEA, Comrade Linda Ihuoma Unaeze, commended the government’s transformative efforts under the New Abia Project, which aim to drive sustainable development and improve governance.

She pledged the union’s full support for the administration’s policies and programs designed to uplift Civil Servants’ welfare and enhance their working conditions.

Comrade Unaeze also reiterated NULGEA’s readiness to collaborate with the government in implementing its developmental initiatives, noting the vital role of local government employees in achieving policy success.
