Oluebube Chukwu Applauds Governor Otti’s Landmark MoU with Radisson Blu for Enyimba Hotel Reconstruction

The Abia State Government, under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, OFR, has taken a significant step toward revitalizing the state’s hospitality sector with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with globally renowned hospitality brand Radisson Blu. The agreement paves the way for the reconstruction and expansion of Enyimba Hotel in Aba, along with the development of an International Conference and Exhibition Centre.

The ambitious project is set to transform the abandoned hotel into a five-star hospitality masterpiece, complete with top-tier facilities, including a 2,500-seat main hall, multiple smaller halls, and a sprawling exhibition space. The initiative aims to position Abia as a premier destination for business and tourism, further reinforcing Governor Otti’s vision for economic revitalization.

The signing ceremony took place on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Radisson Blu’s headquarters in Lagos, with the Honourable Attorney General of Abia State, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, and the Director General of the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), Architect Uche Ukeje, representing the state government.

Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, hailed Governor Otti’s commitment to reclaiming and transforming Enyimba Hotel into a world-class facility. He emphasized that the administration’s focus on infrastructure, security, and urban renewal has already sparked increased business and human traffic in Aba and Umuahia.

The Enyimba Hotel project, originally conceived by former Governor of Old Imo State, Chief Sam Mbakwe, was abandoned over four decades ago following political upheavals. Despite its strategic importance, successive administrations failed to revive the structure until Governor Otti made it a priority.

Determined to ensure that the project meets the highest global standards, Governor Otti’s choice of Radisson Blu underscores his administration’s dedication to excellence. The reconstructed hotel is expected to serve as a major attraction for investors, corporate executives, and tourists, strengthening Abia’s position as an economic hub.

Governor Otti’s unwavering resolve in tackling legal and contractual barriers that previously stalled the project highlights his administration’s commitment to transformational governance. The MoU’s signing marks a decisive step in Abia’s journey toward becoming a model state with world-class infrastructure, a vibrant economy, and improved quality of life for its residents.
