Cross River State Exco Defeats Civil Service in Endearing Carnival Football Match

As part of activities to celebrate the Calabar Carnival festival, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has organized a football match between the State EXCO and the State Civil Service.

 

The match which was played at the U J Esuene Stadium Calabar, ended in 1-0 in favour of the State EXCO . The only goal was scored by Mike Odere, the Commissioner for Finance in the State, assisted by Barr. Ijom Ukam, the Commissioner for Youths Development.

 

 

The Governor used the occasion to assure the people of the State his administration’s commitment towards sports revitalization in the State.

He encouraged everyone to be engaged in one sport or the other for the good of our health, because sport is a very good way to exercise the body to be healthy. He encouraged all to support the State owned football teams as revitalization progresses.

 

On the other hand, the Deputy Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey was very happy and excited as his team defeated Civil Service team. He said that in as much as the energy was lacking due to the fact that it has been awhile they engaged in such activity but the skill was still there, in this Season of Sweetness he encouraged everyone to be happy and exercise often to sweat and burn some fat.
